So WHY wouldn't you use Kevin Mayfield Plastic Surgery?

Ten reasons NOT to consider Kevin Mayfield Plastic Surgery when contemplating cosmetic surgery or medical spa services!

Of course, we hope that you will consider Kevin Mayfield Plastic Surgery, but knowing that deciding among the many options available to you can be very difficult, we offer this list in the hope that it may clarify what Dr. Mayfield's practice has to offer:

  1. Board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is not important to you when selecting a surgeon for your cosmetic surgery.
Board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery should be of paramount importance to you when choosing a cosmetic surgeon. Most physicians are board certified in 'something' but that does not mean they are trained and qualified to perform cosmetic plastic surgery. Dr. Mayfield is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only specialty board recognized by The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) to certify plastic surgeons. Established in 1933, the ABMS is a not-for-profit organization comprising 24 medical specialty Member Boards, and is the pre-eminent entity overseeing the certification of physician specialists in the United States.

Any physician can claim to be a cosmetic or plastic surgeon. As the popularity of cosmetic plastic surgery has increased, and the payments to physicians from insurance companies have decreased over the past several years, more and more doctors that did not train to practice plastic surgery are attempting to become involved in cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatments. As a result, there has been a proliferation of "Academies" and "Boards" with titles that include words such as "Plastic" and "Cosmetic" in them. Aside from The American Board of Plastic Surgery, none of these groups are recognized by the ABMS to certify plastic surgeons.

  2. The thought of seeking advice about aesthetic treatments or skin rejuvenation from a doctor who was not trained in plastic surgery, and is not a board certified plastic surgeon, does not bother you.
Surgery may not necessarily be the ideal solution for your aesthetic goals. Less invasive nonsurgical skin rejuvenation options are best for problems such as uneven skin pigmentation and texture, fine lines and deeper wrinkles, or visible spider veins. Conversely, nonsurgical skin rejuvenation techniques may not adequately address your cosmetic concerns, for example, excess skin of the upper eyelids or hanging skin of the jowls and neck. Only surgery is capable of properly improving these aesthetic issues.

Individuals interested in any cosmetic enhancement should seek a surgically trained board certified plastic surgeon that has knowledge of, and experience with, a wide range of both surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic treatment options. In this way, the correct treatment approach can be formulated for each aesthetic concern. A fully integrated plastic surgery practice and medical spa provides both nonsurgical and surgical aesthetic enhancements for patients during any stage of the aging process, and for patients with both modest and dramatic goals.

  3. You relish the challenges of fighting traffic, finding a parking space, and walking a great distance to visit a plastic surgeon or medical spa.
Finding us is simple and the drive is easy, with a minimum of traffic in the vicinity of our plastic surgery office and integrated medical spa. Our clients and patients enjoy effortless four-lane access from the major expressways and interstates to our north (Ohio 129), south (I-275), and west (I-75) in less than five minutes!

Our convenient West Chester, Ohio location just north of Union Centre Boulevard is a 10 to 20-minute drive from area cities such as Fairfield, Mason, and Sharonville, and less than a 40-minute drive from Anderson, Bridgetown, Centerville, Florence, Harrison, and Oxford. Plenty of free ground-level parking is provided at our front door without stairs, elevators, or long-distance walking. Valet parking ... without the valet!

  4. You would much rather have your cosmetic surgery performed in a doctor's office than in a hospital, surgical hospital, or ambulatory surgery center.
Dr. Mayfield performs all surgical procedures requiring more than a local anesthetic in the safety of area state-of-the-art hospitals, surgical hospitals, or ambulatory surgery centers. These facilities are fully licensed and accredited by organizations such as The Joint Commission and the federal government (Medicare) to assure the highest standards of patient care practices, equipment, sterility, lighting, and pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Mayfield has demonstrated the requisite plastic surgery training and the necessary credentials to be granted privileges to perform cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in these facilities. These facilities will not grant plastic surgery privileges to just any doctor that requests them. Surgery privileges are only awarded to physicians that are able to demonstrate appropriate training, credentials, and experience.

Be aware that in-office cosmetic surgery procedures may, at times, be performed by physicians who are inadequately trained, practicing outside their specialties, and unable or unwilling to achieve privileges to perform cosmetic surgery in hospitals, surgical hospitals, or surgery centers.

Finally, having hospital privileges also means that Dr. Mayfield would be able to continue to care for you at a hospital in the rare event that complications from surgery arise.

  5. You prefer not to be called at home by your plastic surgeon, and his or her nurse, checking on your condition following your cosmetic plastic surgery procedure.
You should expect a call from Dr. Mayfield the evening of your surgery to make sure everything is going well and to answer any questions you or your family may have. The day following your procedure, Dr. Mayfield or his nurse will call from our office to check on you once again. We want to know that you are comfortable and that you understand all of the instructions, and are easily able to follow them.

  6. The notion of being treated by a board certified plastic surgeon in private practice since 1990, who has provided plastic surgical care to over 12,500 individuals (including scores of medical professionals and their families), depresses you.
Dr. Mayfield launched his solo plastic surgery practice in the Cincinnati area in 1990. Without advertising other than a yellow pages listing, word-of-mouth promotion has created an extremely busy practice consisting of over 12,500 loyal patients who have entrusted their plastic surgery care to him. Many of these individuals, thoroughly familiar with the quality of Dr. Mayfield's work, his meticulous approach to patient care, and his convivial personality firsthand, are local doctors, nurses, hospital employees, healthcare personnel, and their families.

  7. Lowest cost guides you when selecting a surgeon for your cosmetic surgery needs.
As you explore the available options for cosmetic plastic surgery, you should be aware that Dr. Mayfield's qualifications, credentials, reputation, experience, and skill level, as well as his attention to detail and commitment to unparalleled personal service and patient education, defines the true value you receive at his plastic surgery practice.

  8. Learning as much as you can about your cosmetic surgery or non-surgical skin rejuvenation options, and having a plastic surgeon take the time to discuss your aesthetic goals and answer all of your questions thoroughly, just seems like a big waste of time.
Dr. Mayfield personally meets with you to discuss the cosmetic surgery procedure(s) in which you have expressed an interest. You will occupy his unhurried and undivided attention while he listens carefully to your concerns and goals, and examines the areas under consideration. If some or all of your aesthetic goals could best be addressed with an individualized skin care program or the nonsurgical skin rejuvenation techniques offered in our medical spa, instead of cosmetic surgery, Dr. Mayfield will gladly speak with you about these options. All treatment recommendations are customized to meet the individual needs of our patients and clients. Finally, Dr. Mayfield never concludes a consultation until all of your questions have been answered to your satisfaction.

  9. You much prefer the quality and safety of medical spa treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, cosmetic laser procedures, or Botox and filler injections that are performed without any direct physician supervision, to those same treatments personally performed by a board certified plastic surgeon.
Dr. Mayfield performs all nonsurgical skin rejuvenation procedures himself. This may not be true in other physician offices, medical spas, day spas, or salons. In fact, the doctor in charge of supervising the treatment you receive from a staff member may not specialize in plastic surgery or even be present during your treatment!

  10. After considering cosmetic surgery for some time, you now welcome the opportunity of waiting several weeks to consult with a physician for only a few minutes.
Dr. Mayfield's schedule is designed to offer same-day and next-day cosmetic surgery and skin rejuvenation consultations, with some limitations. Early morning, lunchtime, evening, and Saturday appointments are available upon request. Because he believes strongly in the value of your time, appointments are planned at intervals to maintain a relaxed stress-free atmosphere and to minimize waiting. During your cosmetic surgery or skin rejuvenation consultation you will meet with Dr. Mayfield face-to-face, one-on-one, and without arbitrarily brief time constraints. Your consultation will not consist of reading a brochure, talking to a staff member, and watching an instructional DVD!

Dr. Mayfield will listen to your concerns and goals and recommend appropriate treatment options for your specific case. He will thoroughly and honestly describe the benefits of any procedure, as well as potential risks and complications. Finally, you may choose to take written literature home with you so that you may continue researching your options following your consultation with Dr. Mayfield.
