Kevin B. Mayfield, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board certified plastic surgeon, in private practice since 1990, specializing in cosmetic plastic surgery and nonsurgical facial aesthetic enhancement and skin rejuvenation treatments. His office and integrated medical spa are located in suburban Cincinnati in West Chester, Ohio.
Born and reared in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Mayfield graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri in 1978. He went on to become a 1982 cum laude honors graduate of the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, where he received several top-of-the-class departmental awards and was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Mayfield completed a five-year general surgery residency, serving as Chief Resident in 1987-88, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison. During this residency he served as a Research Fellow for one year investigating tissue preservation and transplantation under the guidance of the late Folkert O. Belzer, M.D., the world-renowned transplant surgeon. It was during his general surgery residency that Dr. Mayfield developed an intense interest in the field of plastic surgery. At the conclusion of his general surgery residency Dr. Mayfield was selected as "Chief Resident of the Year" by the UW surgical faculty. Finally, he completed a two-year plastic surgery fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. David G. Dibbell, Sr., an internationally respected plastic surgeon and surgical innovator at the University of Wisconsin, serving as Senior Fellow in 1989-90.
Immediately following the completion of his plastic surgery fellowship, Dr. Mayfield launched a solo plastic surgery practice in the Cincinnati area in 1990. Since the inception of the practice, over 12,500 individuals have entrusted their plastic surgery care to him. In June of 2006, Dr. Mayfield relocated his practice, now simply named Kevin Mayfield Plastic Surgery, to its current location in West Chester, Ohio, a vibrant, upscale and rapidly growing northern Cincinnati suburb. In this comfortable and spacious new home, he opened The Medical Spa at Kevin Mayfield Plastic Surgery, specializing in nonsurgical facial aesthetic enhancement and skin rejuvenation techniques.
In association with Interplast, a humanitarian organization sponsoring reconstructive plastic surgery in developing countries, Dr. Mayfield has traveled to Portoviéjo and Bahía de Caraquez, Ecuador performing reconstructive plastic surgery procedures for children with cleft lips, cleft palates, major burns, and congenital hand deformities.
Dr. Mayfield has been certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He also earned the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. After achieving board certification in plastic surgery, Dr. Mayfield was elected by other board certified plastic surgeons from around the country to become a member of the prestigious American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Association for Hand Surgery. Other professional society memberships include the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the Butler County Medical Society, the Ohio State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. In 1994, Dr. Mayfield was honored to be selected by his surgical peers to become a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
